Ren Sharpe was abducted at fourteen and chosen by the mysterious F.A.T.E. Center to become a Shadow: the fearless and unstoppable guardian of a future leader. Everything she held dear—her family, her home, her former life—is gone forever.

Ren survives four years of training, torture, and misery, in large part thanks to Junie, a fellow F.A.T.E. abductee who started out as lost and confused as she did. She wouldn’t admit it was possible to find love in a prison beyond imagining, but what she feels for Junie may just be the closest thing to it.

At eighteen they part ways when Ren receives her assignment: find and protect college science student Gareth Young, or die trying. Life following a college nerd is uneventful, until an attack on Gareth forces Ren to track down the only person she can trust. When she and Junie discover that the F.A.T.E. itself might be behind the attacks, even certain knowledge of the future may not be enough to save their kidnappers from the killing machines they created.

GUEST POST

When people have asked me who I would cast in the I BECOME SHADOW movie it's hard.

The majority of characters are straight out of my imagination and unless we get a police sketch artist to help me out that's where they'll stay. (not to self: hire police sketch artist, that would be cool)

Cole, however, is a completely different story. I've had him cast in my head from the moment I dreamt him up. From day one Tim Roth has been my Cole. He not only looks like he could beat the hell out of you, but also has that uncanny ability to make you dislike him immediately. Cole's role in Ren's development is crucial and the actor playing him will need to be her instant nemesis. Tim Roth, as Cole, is capable of that and more.

And I actually found four books. Can you think of another YA story set in Ireland or Northern Ireland? I'll add them to my list here. Thomas by V.A. Dold Julia is happy with her place in the shifter community as the owner of the famous shifter bar, The Backwater. But the life she's created for herself isn't enough to satisfy her crazy-ass mother, Lucinda, who shops her and her sister Krystal around to the pure blood shifters like a piece of meat. Only a born shifter mate is good enough for her girls. Thomas James has his hands full as the shifter king's head of security. He certainly wasn’t looking for a girlfriend during the first annual shifter gathering. He had the king and queen to protect, not skirts to chase. A childhood of emotional and physical abuse by his birth father has left Thomas emotionally unavailable and uninterested in romantic relationships. His father Tim’s cruelty to his mother and brother molded him into an extremely protective person. No one messes with his loved ones without answering to him. Even though Julia and Thomas are destined to be mates. The obstacles s...
